ISSF 10m Air Rifle Target

Scores for an ISSF 10m Air Rifle target range from 1 to 10. If decimal scoring is used, then each ring is split into 10 levels, allowing a maximum score of 10.9. Shots that miss the 1 ring get a zero.

The black circle extends out to the edge of the 4 ring. The edges of each ring are marked by a 0.2mm line with the outer edge aligned with the diameter of the ring.

The shot just needs to touch the dot in the centre to be counted as a 10. Eclipsing the dot makes it a centre. Inward gauging is used for all rings.

Competitions use .177 Air Rifle pellets and shots are gauged using either a .177 gauge or a special ISSF .177 outward gauge.

TRA 90m Prone Target

The target is mostly white with the region between the 8 ring and 7 ring filled in black. The edge of the centre ring has a 0.5mm line, the edges of the 10 and 9 ring have a 3mm line and the 6 and 5 ring have a 1mm line. The outer edge of the lines are aligned with the diameter of the ring.

The shot just needs to touch the ring to be counted as that score. Inward gauging is used for all rings.

The dimensions of this target match the TRA 90m Rifle target, however it does not extend past the edge of the 5 ring.

Competitions use 22LR rounds and shots are gauged using a .22 gauge.

TRV/WRABF 50m Benchrest Target

TRV 20m Benchrest Target

The target is mostly white with the region between the 8 ring and 7 ring filled in black. The edges of each ring are marked by a 0.2mm line with the outer edge aligned with the diameter of the ring. The 9 ring has a ring thickness of 1mm to allow the inner edge of the ring to be used to gauge centres.

The shot just needs to touch the ring to be counted as that score. Inward gauging is used for all rings.

The shot must eclipse the centre dot to be counted as a 10. The white space inside the 9 ring must be eclipsed to be counted as a centre.

This target is used for two different disciplines:

  • TRV 20m Benchrest competitions are shot with 22LR rounds and gauged with a .22 gauge.
  • TRV 20m Air Rifle Benchrest competitions are shot with Air Rifle pellets ranging between .177 and .22, and gauged with a .22 gauge.

Definitions

Official Document: Paper Target Scoring

Inward Gauging: The edge of the bullet that is closest to the centre of the target is used to determine the score of that shot. If the centre of the target falls inside the bullet hole, the displacement is a negative number.

Outward Gauging: The edge of the bullet that is furthest from the centre of the target is used to determine the score of that shot. The displacement of outward gauging is always positive because the furthest edge cannot be closer that the radius of the bullet.

Displacement: The distance between the centre of the target and the edge of the bullet.

Gauge: A device used to measure the scoring edge of the bullet hole. Typically the size of the bullet and placed inside the hole.

ISSF: International Shooting Sport Federation.

RBA: Rimfire Benchrest Australia.

WRABF: World Rimfire and Air Rifle Benchrest Federation.
